The 10 Card Cicero spread is actually a series of five sets of paired cards, so the analysis is based upon the elemental base of the paired cards, except for the centre cards which represent the beginning and end of the situation. Consequently, this spread is good practice for the card pairing technique used in the Opening of the Key Spread.
The reading below was performed and analysed by a student in Pakistan. Note how very little is made of the divinatory meanings. The insights come mainly from understanding the elemental interactions between the cards. Check out the background to this spread.
The overall view about the cards, its pretty strange to observe no major cards, 3 court cards surrounded the querent and equal number of minor cards from all levels.
2 Cups represents a commitment,engagement or marriage for the querent.
The Page Swords and the Page Wands in the water level, representing two people that the querent is interested in and thinking about them. Since the wand seems very weak in the water level the querent is more in terested in the swords, who is intelligent, brave and logical.
8 Cups and 10 Swords (reversed) in the air level, both friendly to each other and in the level as well, showing the strongness of both the cards.
8cups represents disappointment in this relationship and 10 Swords-rv indicate major mental setback for the querent. Since the card is air and in the air level the intensity of the mental trauma will be very strong, also the card shows a major lesson for the querent to learn which the querent is not learning.
8 Wands and 5 Wands in the fire level, showing both cards
are very strong to each other as well as extremely strong in its own
level. We can see that the strongness of both cards are not indicating any
healthy situation. Lord of swiftness representing change, communication
and uncovering of hidden matters with Lord of Strife indicate Eight Wands has had a
verbal fight between the querent and the courts, or the querent has had a
heated arguments about the courts with friends or peple close to her.
Knight of Swords reversed is very weak in the earth level yet it conveys a message of the knight not being trustworthy and 4 Disks next to it conveys change and stability.
Indicates 2 choices for the querent and since the card is reversed it indicates both the choices are not satisfactory.
The overall view about cards shows no influence of major cards on the situation; all levels are balanced, yet negative cards, the situation is totally in the querent’s hands, where she has to make a choice between the two individual and card shows the negative aspects of their personalities, the cards also indicates a lot of mental illness for the querent and the end card suggest both the choices are not appropriate and will not provide the happiness and content of heart that she is expecting from this relation.
