Harpocrates or Hoor-paar-kraat is the son of Horus. He personifies the sun-rise, and growth of new vegetation. Egyptian statues depict Harpocrates as a naked child holding a finger to his lips, which was misinterpreted as meaning silence, but it apparently refers to the hieroglyph for child. Harpocrates is often shown standing on a crocodile, which is how the Fool is shown in the Thoth Tarot.
