Every so often, in a fit of madness, I think about writing software for tarot that reflects the way I read cards. Of course, I am not a programmer so it never gets far
Tarot programs simply deal out the top cards onto a number of positions, and add some pretty graphics, plus the facility to add some extra cards if needed.
Ambocarta does things in a way closer to OOTK, although it is not obvious. The software which runs through your browser when you sign up for free, connects the reader with the client for online readings. This is not what interests me – it is the implementation, for after shuffling the cards, the reader can define how many piles of cards are required (four for OOTK), and where the cards are cut, which can be altered on a slider.
Each pile of cards can then be opened out individually and analysed. Thus far, there is not Elemental Dignity analysis or card counting, but at least all the cards are available, and can be printed out. This is a fantastic step forward that gives the professional tarot reader to read the OOTK spread online.
Give it a try, and tell me what you think.
