Scarlet Imprint have a new book coming out. XVI refers to the Tower Major tarot card. The depiction of the lightning stuck tower signifies the destruction of a world view or idea, such as 9/11. I wrote a series of articles about experiences with the Tower card which demonstrated a totally different view. The visions contributed to the realization that the Tree of Life is inadequate as a model for tarot, and indeed for magic. The visions showed a forest of trees, that developed into a new view of the Tower that was also as a vehicle for spiritual and magical transformation.
Key to the experience is living in the present, for when this happens there are no shocks, no surprises, and the magician lives the change. Change is such an intrinsic part of life, that the surprise is only when change does not come so quickly.
While it is good that magicians have discovered that the tarot has anything to do with magic you would think that the publisher would include at least one writer on the tarot, wouldn’t you? Magicians are still inextricably enmeshed with an old world view of magic and spirituality. Maybe they will wake up, but on the evidence of what this book promises I doubt it.
